Vespas scooters for sale good to go as Oakland shop planned

There's a new nostalgic king of the road, this time making the scene on two wheels -- the Vespa.

Celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Vin Diesel, Wayne Gretzky and Steven Spielberg have been seen zipping around on the chic Italian motor scooters, making the Vespa so cool even Harley-Davidson-loving gearhead Jay Leno had to get one.

Now, thanks to restaurateur Ernie Vallozzi and business partner Kelly Simon, Pittsburghers will have their chance to zip like the hip with the opening of Vespa's newest shop, located on Forbes Avenue in Oakland.

The scooter's story starts in post-World War II Italy when transportation manufacturer Piaggio shifted from wartime production of planes, trains and boats to producing the Vespa for Italian consumers who were clamoring for inexpensive and efficient transportation.
