Honda announces Dio prices and availability of Honda scooter parts
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), a 100% owned subsidiary of the Honda Motor Company, Japan - the world''s largest manufacturer of two wheelers, after much deliberation announced the price at which their 2nd model, DIO, will be sold. In keeping with the Honda tradition of combining technology with the requirements of its customers, DIO will be available at a price of Rs.39,997 (on road - Bangalore), Rs.40,064 (on road - Chennai), Rs.40,313 (on road - Hyderabad), Rs.40,334 (on road - Cochin), Rs.41,702 (on road - Mumbai), Rs.39,991 (on road - Pune), Rs.39,998 (on road - Ahmedabad), Rs.37,814 (on road - New Delhi), Rs.37,603 (on road - Chandigarh), Rs.39,997 (on road - Bhubaneshwar) and Rs.39,937 (on road - Guwahati).
Commenting on the rationale behind the pricing strategy of DIO, Mr. Haruo Takiguchi, President and CEO, HMSI said, “Our strategy for pricing in India has always been linked to many factors, but mainly the requirements of our customers. Our price of DIO is the result of customer insights that we gained by our extensive market research. I am confident that our pricing would energize and augment the growth of the mid-sized scooter segment further.”
DIO, the first motoscooter in india, was launched amidst much fanfare last month is a sporty mid-sized scooter, designed exclusively for India incorporating the world-renowned Honda technology. DIO is powered by a 102cc air cooled, 4-stroke engine with variomatic transmission. It provides a winning combination that blends the stylish and aggressive form of a motorcycle with the comfort and convenience of a scooter.
In addition to its stylish design, DIO is equipped with many attractive features like Tuff-up tube (Honda''s patented puncture reduction system), CLIC (Convenient Lift-Up Independent Cover) for easy maintenance, Multi-reflector headlamp to name a few and will be available in an appealing range of colours such as Force Silver Metallic, Candy Thaitian Blue, Geny Gray Metallic and Radiant Red Metallic. These colours will be introduced in a phased manner.
DIO will be introduced in a phased manner starting from South India on 10th September, followed by West on 19th September and North and East India on 30th September. HMSI will add 42 new dealerships, increasing the total number of operational dealers to 102 to provide the product in the centers where its market exists. These dealerships will bring Honda''s global standard of service developed through its vast experience and expertise in understanding consumer needs worldwide. Besides regular maintenance, inspection of vehicles and supply of genuine spare parts, a Honda dealership will provide safe riding tips to each customer as a social responsibility to protect life of its customers and build safety environment on Indian roads.
HMSI Plans to sell 1,55,000 scooters in domestic market during 2002-03 fiscal year and DIO will contribute around 15% of the annual sales.
DIO will not only be sold in India but will also be exported to South and Central America, Africa, Europe, Middle East and Asian Countries. This year, HMSI will export 10,000 scooters out of which 4,000 scooters will be DIO.
With the launch of the DIO, HMSI hopes to energise and drive the growth of the mid-size scooter segment further.
