American Legion raffles Vespa scooter

The George H. Mealy Post of the American Legion in Cohasset is sponsoring a most unusual raffle for the benefit of its Christine Burke scholarship fund.

The lucky winner will drive away with two Vespa ET2 motor scooters or $5,000. The choice is theirs. The Vespa motor scooters have a retail value of $3,295 each. They don't require a special drivers license nor do they need to be registered. The winner may have their choice of any available colors. An anonymous friend of the Legion and Herb Chambers who, along with 25 automobile dealerships, owns Vespa of Boston donated the Vespa motor scooters. The Christine Burke scholarships are awarded to deserving high school seniors on the South Shore who are going on to a higher education. In 2003, $14,000 in scholarships were awarded.
