Bombardier adds a sea scooter to its line-up
Bombardier Recreational Products is introducing the Quest™ 650, an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) aimed at the sport-utility segment of the market. The Quest 650 joins the utility-targeted Traxter™ and the DS 650™ sport model in the growing Bombardier® ATV line-up.
This new Bombardier ATV benefits from several innovative technologies such as the 644 cc 4-Tec CVT engine manufactured by Rotax®. Specially engineered to meet the demands of recreational riders, this motor delivers quick, responsive power across a very wide power band. The Quest 650’s semi step-through design allows easy access to the engine compartment, while also allowing easier mounting and dismounting for the rider.
In addition, the Quest 650 features a ‘continuously variable transmission’ (CVT). The clutching is calibrated to provide quicker, smoother acceleration engagement producing a ‘get-on-and-go’ ride much like that found on a Bombardier Ski-Doo® snowmobile. It also has the largest capacity fuel tank on the market, giving it significantly longer range. The Quest 650 also shares Bombardier Traxter benefits such as the full-time 4WD Visco-Lok* Optimized Traction system, the rear-mounted radiator, the large up-front storage compartment, and the park position.
"This sport-utility model is the next step in Bombardier ATV technology to expand toward the more recreational side of the market", stated Benoit Lafortune, Vice President, Marketing and Strategic Planning, ATV. "It also reflects our commitment to cover 70% of ATV market segments within two years by introducing three new models in 2001 and three more in 2002".
To invite consumers to try Bombardier ATV's, the new Quest 650 will be available for demo rides at 17 ATV fairs and shows in the United States from June through October. In Canada, it will hit the road to visit more than 50 cities coast to coast as the center piece of the 2002 Bombardier Road Tour showcasing to riders and dealers.
Available in blue or green, the Quest 650 is set to debut at Bombardier dealerships in June, with a yellow XT model also being introduced which adds handguards, windshield, chrome rims, heavy-duty front and rear bumpers, a standard winch, and a dual pattern seat for increase comfort.
