Enhanced Mobility Assists Patrol Officers On Routine Rounds

Seeking to thwart crime at some Metro Subway parking lots, the Maryland Transit Administration Police recently began using electric-battery operated, low maintenance, low cost scooters as an alternate means of parking lot patrol. The scooters supplement current patrol techniques and allow patrol officers easier movement throughout the Metro parking lots.

The scooters provide an innovative way for our patrol officers to survey the parking area, remarked MTA Chief of Police Colonel Douglas DeLeaver. We are constantly seeking ways of increasing the visibility of MTA police services to the public and this is another tool that allows us to achieve this goal. For more information, see motorcycle scooters.
